I need to activate every time I want to play a film
It's only necessary to activate a film when playing it for the first time. Should the activation window appear again then most likely the playback license cannot be saved on your system. Possible reasons for this can be:
  • You use security software that blocks necessary system functions, i.e. ActiveX
  • The execution of ActiveX controls is disabled in Internet Explorer
  • The time or date of your computer is incorrect

I get a script error when activating
Depending on the problem there are multiple possibilities why you get a script error. A very common reason is that your system blocks the execution of an ActiveX control because it needs to be confirmed first. If that is the problem you will see a warning like on the picture below. It can also be the case that you have too tight security settings in either the Internet Explorer or a security software.

Windows

More detailled for techies: The activation window is using the HTML engine of the Internet Explorer. Therefore all its restrictions and settings apply. After entering a correct activation code a license will be generated that is going to be saved on your system using the already locally existing DRM-ActiveX control. This control handles the communication between Internet Explorer and the Windows Media Player. If they are unable talk then it won't be possible to save the license and the reason you will get an error message.

It's not possible to skip inside the film
This behavior occurs when the film file has not been downloaded completely. You may download the file from within our Infopoint as many times as you want without further charges from our side. Should the download problems persist we recommend to use a download manager program that can resume interrupted downloads and makes sure a file is transferred completely. This functionality can also be found in our VOD manager software called O!PLAY.

Playback is not possible anymore after changing some of my systems hardware
The licenses for protected Windows Media content are saved by the Windows operating system at a secure place on your harddrive. Should you make changes on your systems hardware (i.e. changing a harddrive or mainboard) this can be considered as intrusion and Windows blocks all access to the license vault. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 891664 explains how to solve this problem.

I don't get the activation window...
If the activation window does not appear or the player keeps hanging, there is most likely a problem with your installation or too thight security settings of your firewall/Internet Explorer. Unfortunately it's not possible to give a generic solution for this problem. But there is one thing that you should try: Re-installing the latest version of the Media Player you can download for free from the Microsoft website. Also make sure that the execution of ActiveX controls is not too restricted and JavaScript is enabled.

Media Player wants to do a security upgrade...
It is possible that Windows Media Player asks to do a security upgrade after the activation. Please do this upgrade. It's necessary to do it once to be able to play the films. It will only take a few seconds..
